After a brief but intense auditioning process, Hollywood actor Tristan Wright was selected to be the narrator for this bestselling Action-adventure YA novel. S.S.Segran had a great time sharing her journey as a teen author with students at her former high school. She enjoyed being back at Heritage Woods after graduating in June. "I am so thrilled to see my teachers and friends again. They have been so supportive of my work," she said. The author looks forward to more visits in the future, but for now it's back to working on Aegis Incursion, Book Two of the Aegis League Series which is due for release at the end of November 2014.

S.S.Segran attended the 2014 Teen Fest in Nanaimo B.C. on September 13. The event was held at the beautiful Maffeo Sutton Park by the water. This one day event for youths aged 12 to 18 and their families gives the teens opportunity to connect with each other, their peers, their communites and community leaders.

S.S. decided to jump off a perfectly fine airplane at 15,000 feet, just for the fun of it. The added bonus? She got to take in the amazing bird's eye view of Lake Mead and the surrounding landscape. The large, man-made lake is one of the key settings in which an important event takes place in the prologue of Book Two of the Aegis League series.

Upon getting her feet safely back on terra firma, the first words out of her mouth, "Let's do this again!"

S.S.Segran trekked through the arid landscape outside Lake Mead, Nevada in search of the 19th century town of St.Thomas that vanished underwater in 1938 when the valley was flooded during the construction of Hoover Dam, forcing the inhabitants to flee their homes.

The town re-emerged recently as water levels at Lake Mead dropped in the past few years. Trekking for almost two hours in 113F (45C) heat the author finally found the ruins of the town scattered in the desert. After surveying the site, she photograhed the remains of the once thriving village. This ghost town will play a significant role in Book Two of the Aegis League Series. At the end of May the Book Club students were treated to a visit by S.S. Segran author of Aegis Rising.  S.S. Segran is a local Port Moody author who started writing the novel when she was in her early teens.  She shared how she went from being an avid young reader to a published novelist at the age of 17.  Aegis Rising chronicles the journey of five teenage protagonists who are cast into a life-altering adventure after their plane crash lands in a remote forest in northern Canada.   The novel was just listed on the Amazon Bestseller list in the Sci-Fi category!

The largest spring expo in the Tri-Cities draws thousands of participants every year from Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and surrounding communities. This year, S.S.Segran participated as an exhibitor to promote Aegis Rising at the event. Here is the article as it appeared in the Barbados Advocate covering the launch of the novel Aegis Rising by S.S.Segran and the non-profit, Aegis League. S.S.Segran will be donating a portion of her royalty for all books sold in the Caribbean to the SEED foundation that helps empower youths in the Caribbean. As an intial project, Aegis League donated a popcorn machine to an orphanage/school in Haiti run by Lady Mary Beckles of the Holy Seed foundation. Proceeds from the sale of popcorns by the students will be used to purchase school books and uniforms.

Aegis is moving along well! S.S. has been busy working with her editor. A healthy pace in reviewing and editing is taking place through the Spring Break. If things stay on pace, the book is expected be published in September, 2013.
